North Andover, MA- On Friday, May 6, 2016, the MAXIMUS Foundation awarded Windrush Farm a grant of $4,200 to directly fund the Giddy Up and Grow program for youth at risk. Larissa Shah of Melrose, MA and Project Management Officer at MAXIMUS, visited Windrush Farm so as to personally present the check to Bob Gore, Windrush Board Chair and Mandy Hogan, Windrush Farm’s Executive Director.
MAXIMUS is a leading operator of government health and human services programs in the United States, including Boston, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Saudi Arabia. The MAXIMUS Board of Directors created the MAXIMUS Foundation in 2000 to support organizations and programs that promote personal growth and self-sufficiency through improved health, augmented child and family development, and community development. Windrush Farm is a non-profit organization in North Andover. Founded in 1964, Windrush provides equine assisted activities and therapies to adults and children with special needs, veterans, youth at risk, survivors of human trafficking and bereavement groups. The Giddy Up and Grow program mixes horseback riding with animal husbandry, gardening, reading and writing to expose young people to new experiences, to provide opportunities for skill development, and to reinforce academic skills.
