Windrush is pleased to announce that we have received a grant from PATH Intl. to build an outdoor trail and obstacle course for our veterans!
Our veterans enjoy working with our horses both on the ground and mounted, and will be able to use this obstacle course in both instances.
The course will bring horses through “basic training” elements such as a balance beam, teeter totter, chutes, logs, bridges, and steps. The outdoor elements bring a real sense of adventure to our programming, providing a much more fulfilling experience for the veterans as they tackle each part of the course.
Trail obstacles of this nature, challenge both the horse and veteran (and sometimes their families!) to build their trust in one another, problem solve and become a real team in order to successfully complete the course.
There are few locations for these types of courses on the east coast so we are thrilled to be able to develop one here! We believe this will truly help our veterans’ program, Horsemanship for Heroes, excel.
