Hamilton, MA- On Wednesday, May 4, Windrush Farm presented the 2016 Marjorie V. Kittredge Founder’s Award to Hope Noyes Smith of Hamilton, MA.
Windrush Farm established this award in 2012. It is given in recognition of an individual whose unwavering support of Windrush and the greater community embodies the true spirit of Windrush’s founder, Marj, and of her legacy, Windrush Farm.
Kept as a surprise, Mrs. Smith was presented this award at an awards luncheon at Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton, MA. She is only the third individual to receive this distinction.
Mrs. Smith has been part of the Windrush story for decades, first knowing Marj Kittredge through Myopia and the Pony Club. Over the years, Windrush has benefitted greatly through Mrs. Smith’s generosity and spirit. Her love and appreciation of children and animals and the bonds they share, and her passion for conserving land, have been reflected in her dedication to the program.
Attending the celebratory luncheon with members of her family, her daughters: Hope Amanda Smith of Ipswich and Eliza Smith Cushman of Marblehead and her granddaughter: Hope Cushman of Marblehead. All share the same philanthropic spirit and love of Windrush.
Guests who are close friends, and members of both Windrush and the greater community also joined in. All were there to celebrate Mrs. Smith’s dedication to Windrush and her significant contributions to enrich the lives of those around her. Her contributions have helped Windrush clients realize that they can do much more than they think they can.
Founded in 1964, Windrush Farm is a non-profit organization in North Andover that provides equine assisted activities and therapies to adults and children with special needs. Windrush also works with veterans, youth at risk, survivors of human trafficking and bereavement groups.
