Molly Awiszus, one of our beloved volunteers, surprised us on Wednesday, June 10th with a very special gift. With the help of Roland Dudney, our Farm Manager, Molly decided to take on the project of putting the story of the infamous Windrush duck, Puddles, on paper. Roland and Molly have collaborated for almost two years to put this darling story into a children’s book. It was beautifully written giving readers the feel of a modern day Make Way For Ducklings with elements of the famous seal Andre. We were delighted to have Roland sit down with the staff and friends to read the manuscript from beginning to end. Roland recited about how this little duckling entered his family’s life, built a loving home at Windrush and returned Spring after Spring for 13 years.
The story was beautiful, the delivery was perfect and the thought was priceless. Thank you Molly and everyone involved in this fabulous surprise.
